Our name, Ourgh Aznag, translates to "the gold of the Aznag region" in the Amazigh language in reference to saffron being called the “red gold”, symbolizes the richness and value of the products we lovingly create and share with the world.
Originally founded to produce and market premium organic saffron, the cooperative is expanding its offerings to include a variety of organic and artisanal Moroccan products, such as traditional handmade carpets and other crafts. Our vision is rooted in showcasing the beauty of Moroccan heritage while promoting sustainable and ethical practices that benefit our community.

The story of Ourgh Aznag began generations ago in the picturesque region of Iznaghn, where our ancestors lived in harmony with the land and their traditions. What started as a modest way of life has blossomed into a thriving cooperative rooted in family and community.
In those early days, the men of the family worked tirelessly to cultivate saffron and other crops on our family farm, using traditional farming techniques passed down through generations. Meanwhile, the women would sit together at home, meticulously weaving carpets strand by strand. Each piece was crafted with skill, patience, and love, often taking weeks or months to complete. Once finished, these carpets were carried to weekly markets that toured the small villages, providing a modest income to make ends meet.
This way of life, marked by resilience and dedication, became the foundation of our cooperative. In 2015, inspired by these enduring traditions, our family united to establish the Ourgh Aznag Cooperative. The cooperative was officially born in 20218 out of a desire to preserve our heritage while creating opportunities for our community.
Today, Ourgh Aznag honors this legacy by combining traditional techniques with modern practices, ensuring that every product reflects the same care and craftsmanship that defined our ancestors' work.
